Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Housing Loan Program: The Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is taking major steps to fulfill the dream of home ownership for low-income families. Through the ambitious Apni Chhat Apna Ghar program, the government has set a target of providing interest-free or low-interest housing loans to 100,000 deserving families by the end of October.
This groundbreaking initiative aims to help families build their own homes with financial support and proper oversight to ensure transparency and success.
Massive Progress Under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Initiative
A high-level review meeting was recently held, chaired by Secretary Housing Noorul Amin Mengal, where significant updates were shared on the program’s progress. Program Director Waleed Baig gave a detailed briefing, highlighting the milestones achieved so far.
According to the report, 95,600 families across Punjab have already received loans to build their own houses — a major step toward meeting the October target.

Over 113 Billion Rupees Disbursed to Deserving Families
The Punjab government has already disbursed over 113 billion rupees in housing loans to support the construction of new homes. These funds have been allocated directly to deserving families, ensuring that financial assistance reaches those who need it the most.
This financial support is enabling people who could never dream of owning a home to finally build a roof over their heads their own home on their own land.

Construction Progress: Thousands of Homes Near Completion
So far, 82,931 houses are currently under construction under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar program. Out of these, 20,940 houses have already been fully completed.
In addition, the second installment of loans has been released to 59,510 families, helping them complete their construction work on time. This step shows the government’s commitment to not only initiating housing projects but also ensuring they are completed successfully.
Focus on Transparency and Efficiency
The Housing Department emphasized that all loan distributions are being carried out with complete transparency and efficiency. Strict monitoring and evaluation mechanisms have been put in place to prevent misuse of funds and ensure that every rupee is used for its intended purpose — to build homes for the underprivileged.
The system has been designed to be user-friendly, so that beneficiaries can access support without facing unnecessary hurdles.
