Flood Relief: Punjab Launches 'CM Clinic on a Boat' to Provide Medical Aid in Remote Areas

CM Clinic on a Boat

As floods continue to affect various regions of Punjab, the provincial government has taken a bold and much-needed step to deliver medical services where they are needed the most. A new initiative, CM Clinic on a Boat, has been introduced to reach flood-hit areas that are inaccessible by road. This innovative project aims to ensure that no one is left without medical care during this natural disaster.

Chief Minister’s Vision for Health Relief

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has shown deep concern for the well-being of flood-affected citizens. She has directed health authorities to provide the best possible treatment to all victims across the province. Her instructions focus on ensuring that no area, no matter how remote, is left without medical assistance.

To implement this vision, the Chief Minister assigned the task to Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir, who quickly moved into action with a practical and innovative solution, launching a clinic on a boat.

Clinic on a Boat: A Floating Lifeline

Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir announced that the clinic on a boat project will be fully operational within 24 to 48 hours. The boat clinic is specially designed to navigate floodwaters and reach isolated communities where mobile clinics on wheels cannot go.

This floating clinic will be staffed with doctors, medical supplies, and emergency equipment to provide on-the-spot treatment for common illnesses, injuries, and flood-related diseases. It represents a breakthrough in disaster response and mobile healthcare.

Focus on Dengue Prevention and Women’s Hygiene

One of the top priorities for the Health Department is to combat dengue, which becomes a serious threat during floods due to stagnant water and unsanitary conditions. The minister instructed health teams to ensure zero lapse in dengue surveillance in affected areas.

Special attention was also given to women living in relief camps. The Health Minister directed the department to solve hygiene-related problems for women and ensure the availability of essential hygiene products.

Essential Vaccines Must Be Available

Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir emphasized that all flood relief clinics must be fully equipped with essential vaccines, particularly for:

  • Snake bites
  • Rabies

He instructed all health officers to immediately report any shortage of medicines and vaccines, and make sure that anti-rabies vaccines are available in every medical camp.

Post-Flood Medical Preparedness

As floodwaters begin to recede in some areas, the risk of post-flood diseases increases. The provincial government is preparing for this next phase by ensuring the continued availability of mobile medical units, supplies, and trained staff.

All health departments have been told to stay alert and act quickly in case of any medical emergencies after the floods.

968 Mobile Clinics Already Active

According to the Provincial Health Department, a total of 968 mobile clinics and medical aid camps have already been set up in various districts of Punjab. These facilities are treating thousands of flood-affected people daily and offering:

  • First aid
  • Treatment for infections
