FBISE Fee Waiver Scheme
FBISE Fee Waiver Scheme: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has taken a major step toward making education accessible to all. Under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Ikram Ali Malik, FBISE has announced a fee waiver scheme worth Rs 500 million to support students from low-income families. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on deserving students so they can continue their education without stress.
FBISE Fee Waiver Scheme for Low-Income Students
As part of its commitment to inclusive education, the FBISE Fee Waiver Scheme has been introduced specifically for underprivileged students. Dr. Ikram Ali Malik revealed that the Board of Governors has allocated Rs 500 million to fund this initiative.
Under the scheme:
- Students registered with the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) or other recognized welfare institutions will be eligible.
- No examination fees or educational charges will be collected from these students.
- The goal is to ensure that financial hardship does not become a barrier to education.
This is a welcome move for thousands of families across Pakistan who struggle to afford educational expenses.
Establishment of Model Examination Centers
In another major development, Dr. Ikram shared plans to revive the project of establishing model examination centers. These centers will provide a standard, well-equipped environment for students and include:
- A library
- A computer lab
- A science lab
These centers will help conduct practical exams efficiently and fairly. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has already allocated land for these centers, but final approval is still pending.
Dr. Ikram emphasized that providing a controlled and modern exam environment is crucial for stopping cheating and maintaining examination standards.

FBISE’s Focus on Transparency and Standardization
The Chairman stressed that FBISE is committed to delivering transparent and fair examination processes. One of the main goals is to create an environment where students can attempt exams honestly and without external pressure.
He also mentioned the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping the future of education. According to Dr. Ikram, the use of AI will make the examination system more automated and transparent in the coming five years, ensuring faster and more accurate results.
Updated Fee Structure
While launching the fee waiver scheme for low-income students, Dr. Ikram also addressed the increase in general examination fees. These include:
- Degree verification fee: Increased from Rs 200 to Rs 1000
- Matriculation mark sheet fee: Now set at Rs 1500
- Matriculation examination fee: Increased to Rs 5000
He explained that rising examination costs have made these increases necessary. Despite this, the FBISE Fee Waiver Scheme ensures that underprivileged students are not affected by these changes.
FBISE’s National and International Reach
FBISE currently has:
- Over 4,000 affiliated institutions within Pakistan
- 55 international institutions, mostly in the Gulf and Asian countries
However, no institution in the Western world is currently affiliated with the Federal Board, except for a school in New Delhi, India, which is linked to the Pakistani High Commission.

- Government schools should be skill-focused, not just employment providers.
- Teacher training and qualifications must be improved.
- AI integration will bring efficiency, transparency, and accountability to the system.
This forward-thinking approach shows FBISE’s dedication to keeping pace with global educational standards.
