KP Increases Flood Relief
In response to the devastating floods that hit multiple districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, KP increases flood relief as Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur announces a significant rise in financial assistance under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Flood Relief Compensation program. With over 400 lives lost and thousands of homes destroyed or damaged, the provincial government is now moving quickly to provide relief, rebuild infrastructure, and ensure long-term safety for affected communities.
UN Delegation Meets CM to Discuss Humanitarian Cooperation
A high-level United Nations delegation met with CM Gandapur in Islamabad to discuss cooperation on flood recovery and long-term development projects in the region. The delegation included:
- Muhammad Yahya – UN Resident Coordinator for Pakistan
- Afke Botsman – Head of the UN Resident Coordinator Office
- Carlos Geha – Head of the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)
The UN officials expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property and offered full support for the rehabilitation of flood victims across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Flood Impact: Widespread Losses Across Eight Districts
Chief Minister Gandapur shared that eight districts have been severely affected by recent floods and heavy rains. The human and material loss has been staggering:
- Over 400 people lost their lives
- More than 240 people were injured
- 664 houses were destroyed
- 2,431 houses were partially damaged
Additionally, critical infrastructure such as schools, healthcare facilities, road networks, and drinking water systems have also been severely impacted.

اسی طرح مکمل منہدم گھروں کا معاوضہ 4 لاکھ روپے سے بڑھا کر 10 لاکھ روپے، جزوی طور پر متاثرہ گھروں کا معاوضہ ایک لاکھ روپے سے بڑھا کر تین لاکھ روپے کیا گیا ہے۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ پہلی دفعہ تباہ شدہ دکانوں کے مالکان کیلئے پانچ لاکھ روپے معاوضہ مقرر کیا گیا اور جن دوکانوں میں سیلابی ریلہ داخل ہوا تھا ان کی صفائی کیلئے ایک لاکھ روپے مقرر کیے گئے ہیں۔
علاوہ ازیں صوبائی حکومت نے فصلوں، باغات اور مال مویشیوں کے نقصانات کیلئے بھی معاوضے دینے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے۔ علی امین گنڈاپور نے کہا کہ معاوضوں کی ادائیگی کے لیے ڈیجیٹل پیمنٹ سسٹم رائج کیا ہے، رواں ہفتے اتوار تک تمام ادائیگیاں مکمل ہو جائیں گی۔ وزیر اعلیٰ کا کہنا تھا کہ ایسے کمسن بچے جن کا کوئی نہیں بچا، ایسے بچوں کو معاوضوں کی ادائیگی کیلئے متعلقہ ڈپٹی کمشنر کے ہاں اکاو نٹس کھولے جارہے ہیں۔
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Flood Relief Compensation Increased
To provide urgent relief, the provincial government has significantly raised compensation amounts for victims and affected families:
- Loss of life: Compensation increased from Rs 1 million to Rs 2 million per deceased individual
- Injured persons: Raised from Rs 2.5 million to Rs 5 million
- Completely damaged houses: From Rs 400,000 to Rs 1 million
- Partially damaged houses: From Rs 100,000 to Rs 300,000
- Damaged shops (first time): Fixed compensation of Rs 500,000
- Shop cleaning (flood-affected): Rs 100,000 per shop
In addition, the government has also approved compensation for damage to crops, gardens, and livestock.
صوبائی حکومت سیلاب متاثرین کی بحالی و ریلیف اور ادائیگیوں میں سو فیصد شفافیت کو یقینی بنا رہی ہے اور متاثرین کو بروقت ریلیف کی فراہمی اور بحالی کے کاموں کی موثر نگرانی کیلئے اضافی افرادی قوت فراہم کی گئی۔ وزیر اعلیٰ کا مزید کہنا تھا کہ سیلاب زدہ علاقوں میں اضافی طبی عملے اور موبائل میڈیکل یونٹس بھی تعینات کئے گئے ہیں جبکہ مراکز صحت میں ضروری ادویات کی فراہمی کو یقینی بنایا گیا۔
اسی طرح امدادی سرگرمیوں کی نگرانی کیلئے کابینہ اراکین نے متاثرہ علاقوں کے دورے کئے جبکہ انہوں نے خود بھی بونیر، سوات اور صوابی کے متاثرہ علاقوں کا دورہ کرکے نقصانات اور امدادی کاموں کا جائزہ لیا۔ وزیر اعلیٰ کا کہنا تھا کہ ان کی کوشش ہے کہ متاثرین کو کم سے کم ممکنہ وقت میں دوبارہ اپنے پاﺅں پر کھڑا کریں اور تباہ شدہ انفراسٹرکچرز کو جلد ازجلد بحال کرکے معمولات زندگی کو نارمل کریں۔ اب سیلاب سے متاثرہ اضلاع میں روڈز انفراسٹرکچر ، آبنوشی انفراسٹرکچر اور متاثرہ بنیادی مراکز صحت کی بحالی کا مرحلہ شروع ہو رہا ہے، جن علاقوں میں پینے کے پانی کا نظام متاثر ہوا ہے وہاں پر واٹر فلٹریشن پلانٹ لگائے ہیں۔
Digital Payment System for Transparent Relief
To ensure transparency and speed, a digital payment system has been launched for disbursing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Flood Relief Compensation. All relief payments are scheduled to be completed by Sunday of the same week.
Special accounts are also being opened through Deputy Commissioners for orphaned children who have lost all family members in the disaster, ensuring that no victim is left behind.

اسی طرح وزیر اعلیٰ نے کہا کہ کوشش ہے کہ سیلاب کے خطرات سے مستقل طور پر دوچار آبادیوں کو محفوظ مقامات پر منتقل کریں تاکہ انہیں آئندہ اس طرح کے حادثات سے بچایا جاسکے۔ علی امین گنڈاپور نے مزید واضح کیا کہ فوری اور عارضی اقدامات کے علاوہ صوبائی حکومت مستقبل میں سیلابوں سے بچنے کے لیے مستقل منصوبہ بندی بھی کر رہی ہے، ہم کلاوڈ برسٹ سے متاثرہ اضلاع میں پہاڑوں پر جال لگانے کی منصوبہ بندی بھی کر رہے ہیں تاکہ سیلاب سے نقصانات کم سے کم ہوں. اس کے علاوہ فیزیبل مقامات پر مزید چھوٹے اور چیک ڈیمز تعمیر کرنے کی منصوبہ بندی بھی کر رہے ہیں. جبکہ آبی گزرگاہوں میں سیلاب سے آنے والا ملبہ اور ریت کو ہٹانے کے لیے علیحدہ سے منصوبہ شروع کر رہے ہیں۔
وفد نے اس موقع پر اس عزم کا اظہار کیا. کہ اقوام متحدہ سیلاب سے متاثرہ اضلاع میں لوگوں کی بحالی کے لیے بھر پور تعاون فراہم کرے گی۔ وفد اراکین کا کہنا تھا کہ خیبر پختونخوا میں سیلابوں سے ہونے والے نقصانات پر افسوس ہوا. اقوام متحدہ کے ذیلی ادارے سیلاب سے متاثرہ علاقوں کے علاوہ دیگر پسماندہ اضلاع میں بھی تعاون فراہم کریں گے۔
Swift Relief and On-Ground Medical Assistance
The provincial government is not just relying on financial assistance. Here’s what else is being done:
- Additional medical staff and mobile units were deployed in flood-affected districts
- Essential medicines are supplied to all primary health centers
- Extra manpower for relief supervision and timely service delivery
- Visits by cabinet members and the Chief Minister himself to affected areas like Swat, Swabi, and Buner to monitor ground realities
Rehabilitation and Infrastructure Restoration Begins
Now that immediate relief is underway, the government has shifted focus to rebuilding damaged infrastructure, including:
- Road networks in flood-affected regions
- Drinking water systems, with water filtration plants being installed
- Primary healthcare centers are under repair and reconstruction

Future Flood Prevention Plans Underway
Chief Minister Gandapur also highlighted the need for long-term flood prevention strategies. Key plans include:
