National Youth Employment Policy (NYEP)

Youth are the foundation of any country’s development, and the government of Pakistan has taken a major step in keeping with this fact. Prime Minister Youth Program (PMYP) Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has announced that under the National Youth Employment Policy (NYEP), extensive employment opportunities are being provided to the youth both domestically and abroad. The objective of this policy is to connect the youth with skills, education, and decent employment opportunities and transform them into a strong force for the development of Pakistan.

Through this policy, 1.8 million youth will be provided employment abroad, employment exchanges will be established in every district, new businesses will be registered, and sustainable employment opportunities will be created through green jobs.

Main objectives of the National Youth Employment Policy

Some of the main objectives of this policy are:

  • Providing employment opportunities to the youth abroad.
  • Facilitating job seekers by establishing employment exchanges in every district.
  • Providing language and technical skills training to youth.
  • Involving women in employment programs to provide equal opportunities by 2029.
  • Promoting sustainable economic growth through green jobs and entrepreneurship.

Employment opportunities abroad

The biggest good news for the youth is that countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Turkey, and Belarus are providing opportunities for Pakistani workers. Under the National Youth Employment Policy, youth will be given language and professional skills training before going to these countries so that they can meet global standards and get maximum opportunities.

Domestic employment and district-level facilitation

According to the policy, employment exchanges are being established in every district where job seekers will be provided services not only through online platforms but also at their doorsteps. This initiative will make it easier for the youth to find employment at the local level.

Women’s Inclusion

The National Youth Employment Policy has given special importance to women. According to the policy, the mandatory inclusion of women in all employment programs by 2029 will be ensured. So that they can also play an effective role in the country’s development.

Training and Skill Development

A dedicated committee headed by the Prime Minister meets every two months to provide more opportunities to the youth in the fields of technical education and IT. The objective of this committee is not only to reduce unemployment. But also to develop a skilled workforce that can compete in the global market.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation

The policy has announced the registration of ten new businesses to attract the youth towards entrepreneurship. This initiative will not only give autonomy to the youth but will also create new employment opportunities.

Steps will also be taken to rehabilitate the youth involved in negative activities. So that they return to constructive and positive activities. Along with this, opportunities related to environmental protection and sustainable development will be provided to youth through green jobs.
