Officers Dismissed & New Reforms Rolled Out
Officers Dismissed & New Reforms Rolled Out: In a bold move to ensure transparency and accountability, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken strict action against corrupt officers while also introducing major structural reforms to improve its overall performance. This recent FIA corruption crackdown signals the agency’s renewed commitment to fighting internal misconduct and strengthening its institutional framework.
FIA Dismisses Officers Over Corruption and Poor Investigations
In a significant step toward internal accountability, four FIA officers have been dismissed from service for their involvement in corruption, bribery, and inefficient investigative practices. These officers were serving in major cities, including Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.
Alongside the dismissals, a female officer has been demoted from Inspector to Sub-Inspector due to poor performance and dereliction of duty during investigations. According to the FIA spokesperson, a total of five officers, including two Inspectors and two Sub-Inspectors, were found guilty of serious misconduct.
The agency made it clear that such actions will not be tolerated, especially when they compromise the integrity of investigations and public trust.

FIA DG Emphasizes Accountability
FIA Director General Rifat Mukhtar Raja has underlined the importance of accountability in rooting out corruption and ending human trafficking. He stated that negligence by any officer will not be overlooked and that disciplinary actions will continue against those who fail in their duties.
“Only through strict accountability can we eliminate corruption and protect the rights of our people,” he said.
This strong stance from the top leadership shows the FIA’s resolve to clean its own house before addressing larger societal issues.
Major Restructuring: FIA Introduces New Regional Framework
As part of a wider reform plan, the FIA has revamped its operational structure to improve efficiency and public service delivery. Previously divided into two regions (North and South), the agency will now operate under three regions:
1. Northern Region
- Islamabad
- Peshawar
- Kohat
- Gilgit-Baltistan
2. Central Region
- Lahore
- Gujranwala
- Faisalabad
- Multan
3. Southern Region
- Karachi
- Hyderabad
- Sukkur
- Balochistan
Each region will now be headed by an Additional Director General, allowing for better control, faster decision-making, and improved coordination among zones.

New Zones Established: Gilgit-Baltistan and Sukkur
In addition to the restructuring, the FIA has created two new zones:
- Gilgit-Baltistan Zone
- Separated from the Islamabad Zone
- New office to be established in Gilgit
- Will cover areas previously managed by the Islamabad Zone, including Skardu
- Sukkur Zone
- New zonal office to be opened in Sukkur
- Will cater to the growing needs of the Southern Region
These changes are designed to bring FIA’s services closer to local communities and improve operational performance in underserved areas.
Purpose Behind the Reforms
The latest crackdown and restructuring efforts are part of a broader plan to reform the FIA and build a more professional, transparent, and efficient law enforcement body. By dismissing corrupt officers and introducing new zones and regions, the FIA aims to:
- Improve internal accountability
- Enhance investigation quality
- Speed up response times
- Increase public trust
- Tackle complex crimes like human trafficking, cybercrime, and corruption more effectively
