Orange Line Metro Train Suspended in Lahore for 48 Hours Amid Security Measures During TLP March

Orange Line Metro Train Lahore Closed for Two Days

The Orange Line Metro Train Lahore closed for two days due to heightened security concerns in the city. According to official sources, the Punjab government ordered the closure of the metro service as a preventive measure in response to a potential security threat linked to a planned protest march by the political and religious group, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

Orange Line Metro Train Service Suspended

The Orange Line, a major mode of transportation in Lahore, will not operate today (October 10) and tomorrow (October 11). The decision was made after several metro stations were earlier closed to passenger entry, with a heavy deployment of police and security personnel observed across the line.

The suspension aims to ensure the safety of commuters and protect public infrastructure during a period of possible unrest.

Heightened Security at Metro Stations

To prevent any untoward incidents, law enforcement agencies have taken strict security measures at various Orange Line Metro stations. Security forces have been stationed at key points, and entry into several stations was blocked earlier in the day as a precaution.

Authorities are actively monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond swiftly if any disturbance occurs.

Background: TLP’s Announced March Towards Islamabad

The sudden security alert comes in light of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s (TLP) announcement of a march towards Islamabad on October 10. In anticipation of the movement, the city administration has placed shipping containers at Faizabad and increased police presence across Lahore and the surrounding areas.

As of now, roads leading to Islamabad and Rawalpindi remain open, but a decision to block them may be taken depending on the evolving situation.

Government’s Firm Stand on Law and Order

In a high-level meeting chaired by City Police Officer (CPO) Khalid Hamdani, senior officials reviewed the law and order situation. The CPO issued a strong statement that no one will be allowed to block roads, disrupt traffic, or disturb public life under any circumstances.

He emphasized that any violent activity disguised as a protest will be strictly dealt with. He warned that any attacks on public property or law enforcement would face strict action.

The CPO assured that law enforcement is fully prepared to maintain peace and take action against any unlawful gatherings.

Impact on the Public and Local Areas

The shutdown of the Orange Line Metro Train in Lahore is expected to cause inconvenience to daily commuters, especially office workers and students who rely on it for transportation.

Additionally, hotels on Murree Road near Faizabad have been ordered to evacuate, indicating the level of seriousness with which the authorities are treating the situation.

The public is advised to stay updated through official channels and avoid areas with heavy police presence or protest activity.
