Pakistan, Malaysia sign strategic partnership with six key new agreements in trade, education and anti-corruption

Pakistan Malaysia Agreements

Pakistan and Malaysia have signed six important agreements to further strengthen cooperation in various fields, taking bilateral relations to a new level. The breakthrough came during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s three-day official visit to Malaysia, which was at the special invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The signing ceremony was held at the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office Perdana Putra Complex, where the two prime ministers witnessed the signing ceremony and delegation-level talks. The agreements aim to promote long-term cooperation between the two countries in areas such as education, tourism, trade, halal industry, anti-corruption, and business development.

Cooperation in Diplomatic Training

Pakistan and Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for training diplomats between the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) and the Foreign Service Academy of Pakistan.
The agreement is a significant step towards the exchange and sharing of diplomatic skills between the two countries.
The documents were exchanged by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Malaysian Foreign Minister Haji Muhammad bin Haji Hassan.

Bilateral Cooperation in Higher Education

Significant progress was also made in the field of education, where the two governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in higher education.
The agreement will create opportunities for collaboration, academic exchange, and research between Pakistani and Malaysian universities.
The documents were exchanged by Ishaq Dar and Malaysian Minister of Higher Education Dr. Zemberi Abdul Qadir.

Cooperation in the field of tourism

Pakistan and Malaysia signed an agreement to promote tourism so that citizens of both countries can benefit from each other’s cultural heritage and tourist attractions.
The initiative will promote investment, training, and joint projects in the tourism sector.
The agreement was exchanged by Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting. Attaullah Tarar, and Malaysia’s Minister for Tourism Teong Kung Sing.

Agreement on Halal Certification

Another important agreement was signed in the field of Halal Certification. This will promote trust and transparency in the trade of food products, meat. And other halal items between the two countries.
The agreement will help introduce Pakistan’s halal industry to the global stage.
The agreement was exchanged between Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Malaysia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Naeem bin Mukhtar.

Cooperation in Anti-Corruption

As part of the joint strategy against corruption, Pakistan and Malaysia signed an agreement to promote experimentation, research, and technical cooperation.
The agreement will establish better linkages between NAB and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
The documents were exchanged between NAB Deputy Chairman Sohail Nasir and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Commissioner Azam Bin Baki.

Collaboration in the Sector of SMEs

Pakistan and Malaysia also signed an agreement to promote small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The agreement was between the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) of Pakistan and SME Corporation Malaysia.
The aim is to promote exchange of business skills, financial training, and joint ventures.
The documents were exchanged by SME Corporation Malaysia CEO Rijal Bin Dato’ Nain. And Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Syed Tariq Fatemi.
