Mass Wedding in Punjab Ceremony
In a heartwarming and historic initiative, the Punjab government successfully organized a grand mass wedding ceremony under the Dhi Rani Program in Lahore. A total of 130 daughters, including 18 minority brides and one special daughter, tied the knot with dignity and honor. This significant event reflects the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who is determined to uplift underprivileged families through inclusive welfare programs.
A Day of Dreams Fulfilled
The ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Baitul Mal Sohail Shaukat Butt and Provincial Minister for Sports Faisal Ayub Khokhar as special guests. The atmosphere was filled with joy, blessings, and emotional moments as daughters began a new chapter of life, surrounded by support and celebration.
Addressing the event, Minister Sohail Shaukat Butt congratulated the couples and praised the Chief Minister’s initiative. He called it a “historic step” toward supporting daughters who had long dreamed of their big day but were held back due to financial struggles.

What is the Dhi Rani Program?
The Dhi Rani Program is a welfare scheme launched by the Punjab government under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Its main goal is to help parents marry off their daughters with respect and without financial stress. The program reflects a sincere effort to promote dignity, equality, and compassion in society.
Whether daughters belong to Muslim or minority families, all are treated equally under this program. The government ensures that every bride receives the same love, care, and protocol, regardless of her background.
A Symbol of Simplicity, Transparency, and Honor
The provincial minister emphasized that this program is not just about funding weddings—it’s about honoring daughters and sharing the emotional and financial burden of parents. In a powerful statement, he said, “This is not a favor; this is the right of the people. The money being used belongs to them and is now being spent to fulfill their dreams.”
He also assured that 5,000 weddings will be conducted under the Dhi Rani Program this year. And if there are 10,000 or even 15,000 applications, every eligible daughter will be supported as per the Chief Minister’s directions.
This commitment showcases the program’s scale, vision, and inclusiveness, setting it apart from previous government schemes, which, as noted by the minister, often became platforms for corruption.

Empowering Women and Protecting Dignity
In addition to the mass weddings, the Punjab government is actively working on other women’s protection initiatives. The Dhi Rani Program complements the government’s broader mission to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for women across the province.
For the first time, the people of Punjab are witnessing a leadership that not only talks about change but delivers it with sincerity and action. “A daughter has become the Chief Minister and has thought like a daughter,” said Sohail Shaukat Butt. Highlighting Maryam Nawaz’s personal connection to the struggles of women and families.
A Model of Public Service
The event also sent a strong message about good governance and the responsible use of public funds. The minister stated that state resources are a trust of the people, and through programs like Dhi Rani. The government is proving that public money can be used to fulfill public dreams.
This approach has turned the Dhi Rani Program into a model of transparency, simplicity. And service, marking a clear difference from the failures of past administrations.
