Punjab Public Service Initiatives 2025
The Punjab government has launched a wide range of Punjab Public Service Initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for millions of residents, especially in remote and underserved areas. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, several key decisions were taken in a high-level meeting that reflect a strong commitment to health, infrastructure, accessibility, and sustainability.
Bottled Water to Remote Households
In a historic move to improve access to clean drinking water, the Punjab government has decided to supply bottled water to every house in remote areas. This initiative targets communities where water quality and availability have long been a concern, especially those without access to filtration systems. The step aims to reduce waterborne diseases and improve overall public health in rural and flood-prone regions.
Expansion of Water and Sanitation Services (WASA)
The government has set a target to establish Water and Sanitation Agencies (WASAs) in 25 districts of Punjab by December 31. This move is intended to improve water management, sewage treatment, and sanitation infrastructure across the province.
Additionally, more than 5,000 closed water filtration plants have been reactivated, ensuring that millions now have access to clean drinking water. This reflects a major turnaround in public utility services that were previously non-functional.

Healthcare Achievements in Flood-Affected Areas
During the meeting, officials revealed that 1.15 million people have been treated in flood-affected areas of Punjab. This figure reflects the government’s rapid response and strong health infrastructure. Another significant milestone was also discussed. Punjab has set a national record in cervical cancer vaccination, a crucial step in preventing the spread of a deadly but preventable disease. These efforts show the province’s dedication to expanding healthcare outreach and prevention programs.
Supporting Special Persons
In a move toward inclusive governance, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz instructed officials to reach the homes of special needs across Punjab. This directive ensures that individuals with disabilities are not left behind. And receive the services and support they need directly at their doorsteps. It is a strong step toward social justice and empowerment.
Electric Buses to Be Launched by December
The Punjab government’s public service initiatives also include a focus on green and sustainable transport. It was announced that electric buses will begin operating in the province by December. Alongside this, the meeting approved a uniform design for electric bus stops throughout Punjab. Ensuring consistency and modernity in public transport infrastructure.
These buses will not only reduce environmental pollution but also offer affordable, efficient transportation options to urban and semi-urban populations.

Lahore Development and Street Rehabilitation
Urban development is also high on the government’s agenda. The meeting reviewed progress on the Lahore Development Project, with its first phase set to be completed by November 30. This includes major improvements to city infrastructure, urban planning, and services.
Notably, the construction and rehabilitation of 4,624 streets in Lahore have already been completed. This massive street development project is set to enhance mobility, safety, and urban aesthetics.
To protect these newly developed areas, the government has decided to take strict action against any form of vandalism in new streets and public spaces. This sends a clear message that public assets will be safeguarded for long-term use.
