Zamindara Dam Breaks as Sutlej River Overflows: The ongoing Sutlej River Flood 2025 has caused serious devastation in various parts of South Punjab, including Bahawalpur, Multan, and Gujarat. Heavy water flow in the Sutlej River has led to the breaking of dams, flooding of residential areas, and mass evacuations. Authorities have issued red alerts and intensified rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected zones.

In Bahawalpur, the Zamindar dam broke due to the heavy overflow of the Sutlej River. The situation turned critical in Sahlan village, where floodwaters entered Hussainabad and other nearby settlements. As a result, several houses were destroyed, and many families were forced to leave their homes and migrate to safer areas.
Eyewitnesses reported scenes of panic as floodwater quickly spread across farmlands and residential colonies, leaving residents with little time to gather their belongings.

Red Alert Issued in Multan
A serious warning has been issued for Multan, where a new wave of over 414,000 cusecs of water from Head Trim is expected to reach within two days. Deputy Commissioner Multan has urged all residents living in riverine areas to avoid returning to their homes and stay in safer locations.
Authorities are particularly concerned about the slow discharge speed of the current water flow, recorded at 36 knots. This is preventing water levels from receding. This slow pace has already caused damage in the areas of Shujaabad and Jalalpur Peerwala.
Officials warn that if the intensity of the incoming water increases. They may have to reconsider breaching certain areas to control the damage.

Urban Flooding in Gujarat
In Gujarat, recent heavy rains caused breaches in the main drainage systems, resulting in severe urban flooding. Streets, homes, and marketplaces were submerged under water, creating major difficulties for residents.
According to DG PDMA Punjab, Irfan Ali Kathia, machinery has been dispatched to Gujarat for emergency water drainage. And the situation is expected to improve within the next 12 to 18 hours.

The government and disaster management teams are working around the clock to deal with the Sutlej River Flood 2025. River flows are being continuously monitored, and relief operations are underway in all flood-affected areas.
